Eleonora's 90th Birthday

On March 26, 1936, Dorotea gave birth to her second child, a healthy baby girl, named Eleonora. She was named after Dorotea's favorite actress Eleanor Powell.

Eleonora had a good and sheltered upbringing and was educated in private Catholic schools from kindergarten to high school in Cebu City.

She graduated with Pre-Med from the University of Santo Thomas (1st Catholic University in the Philippines) located in Manila. Then completed her Bachelor of Science in Zoology.

After college, she taught Zoology in the University of the Visayas in Cebu City.

While visiting her sister in Canlaon, Negros Occidental, Philippines, she met her future husband, Rudolfo Gobuyan.  Rudolfo was a friend of her sister's husband.

Eleonora later married Engineer Rudolfo Valensoy Gobuyan on January 24, 1960 in Samboan, Cebu, which was a two day celebration.

Eleonora and Rudolfo had four children (Gerardo, Genevieve, Graceline, and Gabriel).

The entire family left the Philippines on March 5, 1972 and immigrated to Oahu, Hawaii to have a better future and more opportunities for their children.

They lived in the island of paradise for six years, until relocating to their current residence in California.

Eleonora became a widow on July 25, 2020.

Fifty-four years later after departing the Philippines, Eleonora has three generations under her belt. She has ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Eleonora recently celebrated her advanced 90th birthday on the island of Oahu with her immediate family.

It was an unforgettable, memorable, and sentimental journey back to Oahu, Hawaii for the entire Gobuyan Clan.
